I don't see any options of installing DNN via the Microsoft Web Platform Installer (WPI) without SQL express.  We wish to deploy DNN to a hosted web server environment and will be using a separate MS SQL 2005 dbase server.  Hence, having no need for SQL express.  For security reasons, we wish to keep the number of applications installed on the web server to a minimum. 

From what the installation documentation indicates (and incorrectly, I might add), you can download a package version and unzip that into a folder of your choice.  It seems that you only have the choice of installation via the WPI process now.  It doesn't inspire confidence to "newbies" when the documentation isn't right.

Is it possible to install DNN without SQL express?  If so, how?  I've done some googling, had a look through the forums and found no relevant information.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, much appreciated.  I had a good look and couldn't see the "install" option, maybe I'm going blind in my old age...

I did find this page via a Google search:

and I've grabbed that and will have a play with that.  Hopefully it works without issue.
