 Hello everyone,

I am a newcomer in the world of dotnetnuke and I'd like to ask whether the following scenario can be implemented in dnn or not.

We already have developed an asp.net website that is fully integrated with the existing ERP system of our company. Now, we are planning to re-create the whole web-site due to the fact that the business activities of our company have been expanded. Could we transfer all our functionality in the dnn environment? If yes, what is the suggested methodology? Is there any Use Case that describes a similar scemario? Is DNN generally suitable for the development of web-sites that have rich .net functionality?

Thanks in advance

Typically there is not a reason that you couldn't migrate.  To get a "true" setup you will want to migrate the existing functionality into DNN modules, with user controls for all UI elements and then use the DNN security methods to get access to everything.

Are you looking to migrate code as-is, or does the nature of your changes prompt a re-write as well?

Mitchel Thank you for your response,

Actually we intend to keep the existing functionality as it is and we want to develop new functionality since the existing ERP has been enriched with additional modules. We are really interested in migrating to DNN but my team does not feel confidence since we do not have done it before. As for the existing functionality, should we create a module  where all existing forms will be replaced by user controls? If so, we need to re-write code that fetches data from the database in order to be compatible with the logic of DNN ?  Is there any DNN starter-kit that explains a similar scenario? To be honest, I'm really confused about the way a new module which should communicate with an existing ERP system should be developed in DNN environment.

Thanks
