I want to create some links to content pages in a skin. The links don't really need to be user-configurable as they are not going to change often, if ever. I want them to continue to work without having to change anything if I deploy the skin to a different server on which the pages in question have different TabIds. The site in question is DNN4.9.3 which uses TabIds in friendly Urls.

I can create a pane in the skin to inject a links module, but that seems over-the-top for what I want. Can anyone suggest a better way to do this, please?

You could use ?Tabname=Contact, but that's case sensitive until DNN 5.3 I think.

Timo,

When you're adding this into the HTML for a skin pack should this work as: <a href="?tabid=contact">Contact</a> ? I tried it out and this referenced the skin folder as the route directory. To resolve this I used the following: <a href="/default.aspx?tabid=contact">Link</a>. This said though the above works when I insert it into a HTML module.

This is a great tip! Thanks for the info.

Regards,

Rick.

Thanks for the tip, Timo.

My site is deployed in development in a virtual directory, and on staging and production servers in the web root. To get your approach to work in this scenario, I configured links like this:

<a href="http://<%=PortalSettings.PortalAlias.HttpAlias %>/default.aspx?Tabname=Events">Events</a>

And that did the trick!

My post was a bit to short....

You should use either /?tabname=contact for a root install, or add the alias or subfolder to the URL.(as in the posted example)

BTW, from  DNN 5.3 this option is case insenitive.
