HI,

I am new to DotNetNuke and I want to learn it. I am a Software Engineer working in .NET for the past 4 years. I want to setup DNN on Win XP, for DB I want to setup on a remote SQL Server that I am using. Please tell me how to deploy it with my requirements and also. How to get started with all the code and modules? I want to run the website and debug it and see how it works. Please tell me how I can set it up.

Best Regards,
Syed Afraz Ali

Check out the videos on DNNCreative.com for detailed information.   Remember that DNN is just a ASP.NET application so all of the standard ASP.NET application implementation rules apply - nothing special.  Please don't confuse ASP.NET issues with DotNetNuke isses.

As for referencing a remote SQL server, you can define various connection string in the Web.Config file for the site.  I have one site that references 5 different databases ( DNN + 4 application databases).

I would recommend reading the various blogs by Mitchel Sellers or Michael Washington.  Also when developing modules I would suggest following the WAP model - Michael typically uses the WSP model.

Good Luck,
Paul.
