Hi all, I hope someone can help me out wih this problem. I've looked everywhere but can't seem to wrap my head around it.

Is there anyways to extract the different page description based on the URL column within the website? For example, I have 4 pages with page titles and descriptions. They follow something like this following.

  • Homepage (page name) with 'Welcome to homepage' (page description)
  • About Us (page name) with 'Meet the team and who we are' (page description)
  • Our Products (page name) with 'View our latest products and services' (page description)
  • Contact Us (page name) with 'Contact details and office locations' (page description)

On the homepage I have setup a Forms and List module with the following columns

  1. Page Link = URL
  2. Icons = Image

What I need is if the admin adds a new entry for the Page Link, I would like F&L to extract the page name and page description based on the URL selection (within your page) so in my custom XSTL layout does the rest.

I can grab the page title by using +_UDT_Caption within my XSTL layout but I can't work out how to grab the description.

Any help would be fantastic.

Thank you

Form and List is liek Excel displaying the data you entered. if you want to access data from SQL tables, you should use Reports module - or free SupersiteReport from www.zldnn.com, where you may create a report based on a user defined sql query.

Sebastian is correct, though these are really good candidates for enhancements to the lookup datatype

Thank you for the prompt reply Sebastian and Stefan. The Reports module isn't what I was aiming to use. I might have to look into RAD from DotNetMushroom or some other module.

Sebastian - if you could add those features to the F&L module using the Look-up column, that would be absolutly fantastic. The idea I was aiming for was very little involvement from the administators when adding new entries as possible, and using content that's already available on different pages (Descriptins, keywords and page titles) would simplify the management of information immensely.

Thank you
