Hi Scott.

Unfortunately your original thread is locked, therefore i have to open a new one.

Your description is fine, it is so easy, at least in my own portal and i think in all the other portals as well. But not here.....

Reason: when clicking on "Edit Profile" i come to the dialog Manage Profile and when i click here on "Manage Profile" the page jumps back to "My Profile".
So it would be easy, if it would be possible.....

Cheers

Kai

Hi All.

In addition to my prior posting and regarding this post reg. the updates May, 5th from Chris, i want to say two things:
1) The good one: THANKS A LOT for reverting MyThreads to the old functionality!
2) The not so good one: My prior post here is still valid. I can't manage my profile when clicking "Manage Profile"

Cheers

Kai

Scott's post is somewhat out of date since the actual control used changed (I wrote a custom one previously used, the new one is the one provided by the core). I am not sure where exactly you are trying to 'manage' your profile from. The best way to manage your profile is to go to your profile page by clicking your display name in the skin (not the forum) towards the upper right hand corner of the site (under the search box). Next, click "Edit Profile" on that page and then click the next "Manage Profile" link on that page. After that, you have to scroll to the bottom, find the "Photo" field, select the last "My Folder" in the drop down (It's the last folder in that list), then upload the file and then save the file.

Now, that said, I don't find managing a profile very usable at all and feel it needs lots of work usability wise (the number of steps I outlined above is too many). Personally, I think the following enhancements should be logged for future updates:
  • Allow a way to link directly to the core profile's "Manage Profile" - I could then add a link under the Forum's My Settings for this. You could then click update, and if done properly, be returned to where you were.
  • The user folder drop down should automatically have "My Folder" selected.
  • Re-visit how the edit profile page is generated, it currently looks very bad in Chrome and setting a profile image property visibility is not fully possible. It would also benefit from some template capability here.

Hi Chris.

Just to be 100% clear: i'm not talking about MY portal but about www.dotnetnuke.com and my profile in there.

I tried it either way and the result is always the same.
I click on my name -> Page MY PROFILE appears
I click on EDIT PROFILE -> Page MANAGE PROFILE appears
I click on MANAGE PROFILE (the 3rd link from the left) -> jump back to MY PROFILE page
So, i do not even even the spark of a chance to add / change anything, nor the photo.

In my own portal this is the working way beside the "minor" issues described in this thread.

So, in all other cases you are right as you could read there.

Thanks anyway

Cheers

Kai

Kai, I just confirmed the issue you are having with the "Manage Profile" link click in the edit profile section. It appears to affect any user with a UserID about 33k or greater. Fortunately, I have already fixed the bug for DNN 5.4.2 (it's a core bug, it will have to get fixed on here after 5.4.2 is ready and we can upgrade this site). Details about the bug can be found here: http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/V...
