I've been trying to get DNN 5 installed for more than 2 days straight now. I tried letting DisountASP's installer do the install of the initial files and I've also done a manual FTP of the files. The last attempt was Unzip the the DNN "Install" version to my local drive, edit the web.config for my db connection string, then upload the files to a subfolder at my host. I made the subfolder an application folder, then navigated to the site.  Everything great so far, step through the "custom" install and get to the db script install, it churns for a bit then I get:
Installing Database - Version 05.00.00...FAILURE 400 - Generic failure.  Every time.  Weird thing is that there are tons of tables and stored procedures that do get created in the database.  Can someone help me please. I'm new to DNN but I'm by no means a noob to web development. I reall want to check DNN out but I might have to go with webforms 4.0. I'm using IE 8, my host is Discount ASP, IIS7, SQL 2008. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Have you checked with DiscountASP support?  They're usually pretty helpful.
