Hi,

So this is my story.  I have a new domain and want to create a new parent portal. I pointed the domain to the root folder and nothing happens but a Directory Listing Denied Error.

I try to delete the portal and get this:

Error: Portals is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Access to the path 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke\Portals\1' is denied. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke\Portals\1' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.Directory.InternalGetFileDirectoryNames(String path, String userPathOriginal, String searchPattern, Boolean includeFiles, Boolean includeDirs, SearchOption searchOption) at System.IO.Directory.GetDirectories(String path, String searchPattern, SearchOption searchOption) at System.IO.Directory.GetDirectories(String path) at DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.DeleteFilesRecursive(String strRoot, String filter) in C:\CCNet_Builds\DotNetNuke_5_Maintenance\WorkingDirectory\Library\Common\Globals.vb:line 1593 at DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.DeleteFilesRecursive(String strRoot, String filter) in C:\CCNet_Builds\DotNetNuke_5_Maintenance\WorkingDirectory\Library\Common\Globals.vb:line 1598 at DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.DeleteFilesRecursive(String strRoot, String filter) in C:\CCNet_Builds\DotNetNuke_5_Maintenance\WorkingDirectory\Library\Common\Globals.vb:line 1598 at DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalController.DeletePortal(PortalInfo portal, String serverPath) in C:\CCNet_Builds\DotNetNuke_5_Maintenance\WorkingDirectory\Library\Entities\Portal\PortalController.vb:line 170 at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Portals.Portals.grdPortals_DeleteCommand(Object source, DataGridCommandEventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I create a new portal with the same domain accessing it and now I can't delete that one either with the exact same error even referencing the other portal.

1. How do I go about deleting these bad portals?
2. How do I properly create a new parent portal?

It seems that permissions are missing for applicaiton pools account.
Add full control to aspnet account (network service for example) on directory and subdirectories of your website.

Hi,

I tried that and still can't delete the portals and get the same error. I really want to setup a new parent portal for another site but don't want to even give it a try till I delete the 2 that are broke.

Again how to I do setup a parent portal properly? Obviously my two prior attempts screwed something up.
