Ok.can I use up my one dumb question now:)

How do I get DNN to create a folder/index file on my server?  I have read through the manual..I have made sure that the path is correct in my admin and host areas but nothing seems to work...I know I am missing something easy here.  I just want to access it via the web and not the local host.  Want to have a basic home page that is web accessible where I can really start testing it out.

Thanks in advance....good karma to you sir or madame.

It looks like perhaps you have the terms confused. Based on your question it sounds like you want to make your DNN install accessible to the outside world, not just yourself via Localhost?

If that is the case you need to configure an additional PortalAlias for the portal, you can do this as a Host/Superuser, from the admin/site settings page.

The alias will be the outside URL for your site. If you're hosting this locally it will likely be ###.###.###.###/dotnetnuke where ### represents the IP address of your system. If you already have DNS setup for a domain name pointing to the webserver you can use the domain name you have configured instead of the IP address. If you have DNN running in a virtual directory on the web server then you need to make sure that virtualdirectory is part of the alias.
