DNN is humbling me. I'm reasonably adept with Visual Studio, Dreamweaver, Expression Web and Flash and  I've decided to learn something about DNN.   I managed to get DNN installed on a website I'm building.  DNN is installed, as I understand it is supposed to be, in a subdirectory of the site but I'm at a loss to understand how to get the pages or content in the root directory?  I feel stupid even asking, but there it is.  I know it must have something to do with Portals and Pages and perfectly obvious but....?  Any guidance will be appreciated.

Lawrence,

You are trying too hard.   I believe the point you missed is that you used the DotNetNuke site to build the site.  The virtual pages maintained in the database nad are presented based on user selection.  In fact,  DNN only has one page ... default.aspx.    Based on the URL, the default.aspx will load additional User Controls to create the page you want on the fly.

Once you sign in as Admin or Host you will see the additon of a control panel at the top of the page.  Use this control panel to add pages and or modules (add-ins) to the site.   The details regarding the pages is saved in the database.

Therefore, you do not need to create explicit pages.

I highly recommend the video's at www.DNNCreative.com - well worth the time and addition expence (if you choose).

Hope this helps...
Paul.
