I have installed dotnetnuke version 5.0.0 as a base with no content or any changes. All is good at this stage.

I immediately go to upgrade to version 5.4.2 changing the connection strings and machine key.

Instead of getting the upgrade screen I got a server errors for these two lines in the web.config

110 <add name="RadUploadModule" type="Telerik.Web.UI.RadUploadHttpModule, Telerik.Web.UI" />
127 <add path="ChartImage.axd" verb="*" type="Telerik.Web.UI.ChartHttpHandler, Telerik.Web.UI, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4" validate="true" />

I commented them out one at a time and then I got a successful upgrade.

My question is, now what do I do?
Do I just uncomment these lines and hope for the best?
Is there a prescribed way of getting this problem fixed?

Thanks In Advance.

Peter, I have done exactly as you did and my upgrade worked fine.
However, now I am getting a error "The E-mail supplied is invalid." when I try to log in as host or admin. Did you get similar errors and if so how did you resolve it?

Thanks
Vin

Vin, I did have a similar problem the first time I tried to upgrade. The upgrade appeared to go well however, I could not login as host or admin. I think this error is caused by the machine key. Can you make sure you have copied accross the machine key value from your old web config file into your new web config file?

Cheers,
Peter Mead

My Appologies, the title of this post is wrong. it should read "Upgrade from 5.0.0 to 5.4.2 telerik problem"

Hello Peter,

I recently had some issues with Telerik when I was upgrading from earlier versions. I have to pay attention to the following line, to match my version of telerik with DNN
<add assembly="Telerik.Web.Design, Version=2010.1.519.35, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121FAE78165BA3D4"/></assemblies>

Can I ask why you install 5.0.0 and moved to 5.4.2, as opposed to installing 5.4.2 from scratch?  Just for testing purposes?

Thanks
