Hi!
During a phpBB forum porting request, i have builded a custom DNN module:
ImportphpBB DNN module
I have tested for now with phpBB-2.0.17 (because that's in my needs) with succes.
But i will be open to share this solution with anyone interested to test porting of his phpBB forum.
I'm interested also in other phpBB versions too.
For the moment it is in BETA phase, so it needs more test and tune.
This module source code is available on personal request and i will be gladly to cooperate with any other interested developer.

Regards,

Claudiu Farcas

I am guessing this is a port from phpbb to the dnn core forums?  If this is the case, I have a phpbb user base I would be interested in testing it on. I am curious though if you are pulling from mySQL into dnn MS SQL or what is going on.

Indeed, it is a porting from phpbb to native dnn core forum.
Procedure for forum migration has following steps:
1. install MySQL (your phpbb mysql version) on a local (dev?) machine.
2. install mysql-connector-odbc-3.51.12-win32
3. Restore a phpbb backup into local MySQL server
4. you need to create (or get existing one) dotnetnuke portal locally.
5. install DNN Gallery and DNN Forum
6. Install THIS module to dotnetnuke portal, add it to a page(tab)
7. configure the module (specify the forum to link)
8. replace the MySQL ConnectionString with one that goes to local MySQL Server database (ofcourse you can use a remote server too.. but i have tested only locally)
9. follow the indicated steps.... and at the end you have forum imported:
      - it create portal and forum users (every user will have a new generated password that it should change)
      - it imports groups
      - it imports forums
      - it imports posts
10. upload new dotnetnuke portal to webhoster

Just one drawback:
I cannot import private messages yet, until private messages will be available in the DNN Forum.
But if this feature will be implemented, i'll try to update this module to do private messages importing too.

Using the latest version of DotNetNuke and this module did not work for me. When attempting to import the users (step 1) I receive a .Net exception stating that the stored procedure cannot be found. I checked using SQL enterprise manager and the SP that this module is trying to use does not exist. Any assistance would be apreciated.
