Not sure this is the right forum, but I have a problem.

I have a DNN site (5.2) that was running fine on a hosted server using SQL 2008 (on different server).  One day the client called and said the site wasn't working. I checked and in Firefox it brings up a blank page with no errors.  IE shows a "cannot display the webpage" generic error.

I checked with the hosting provider for error logs (I don't have access to them) and they said: they found this:

A process serving application pool 'cypressbrook.com v2.0 (Classic)' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '17124'. The data field contains the error number.

They said it happens in both classic and integrated mode and blamed the web.config file, which has been okay and unchanged by me!

They messed with it, I messed with it.  No good.  Other DNN 5.2 sites are working fine on my account, so server is okay, SQL is okay, etc.  They created a new DNN app from the .net app gallery with new database and it works fine.  I am VERY confused.

I checked the database and found something that might be a problem.  I noticed I have a "dbo.portals" table AND a girgenti_Cypressbrook.portals table.  Actually, all tables are mimic-ed with the prefix girgenti_cypressbrook.  I do not remember setting up a prefix, but I obviously did :( ... is it a problem to have both tables in there?  Do I need to do something special to tell DNN to use the tables with the prefix .. they have data, while the others are empty.

I am trying to get all the code running on my local machine, but have a lot to load first to get it running on XP!

Thoughts?  I do have SQL Studio access to the database and all the tables.

small update:

looking at the database, there are 26 tables under the dbo schema that are not in the girgenti_cypressbrook schema.  Some of these include the tables for custom modules, like livetabs, ICPC_Counter, etc.  This means some data is listed in dbo.  and some is listed in girgenti_cypressbrook. schemas!

How did this happen, and more importantly, how do I fix it?

More weird stuff .. and I in need of some real help ... and this may need to be moved to the upgrade forum.

I have the files and database locally.  I managed to run the upgrade from 5.2 to 5.4 with no errors.  When the site reloads, at first it was missing several stored procs.  I noticed it was looking for them in the girgenti.cypressbrook schema, so I created them from the dbo schema.  The site did load, but with some content errors.  When logged in, I noticed A LOT of schema problems.

How did the site ever run with some procs as dbo and some as girgenti.cypressbrook?
More importantly - now what?  How do I move EVERYTHING into one schema or the other so the site will run?

This may or may not be appropriate, but I am in need of serious help.  If someone is confident they can fix the site if I send them the database and files, I would be interested to know what they would charge me to get it running.

I am open to any idea at this point.  I can test locally or live (since it is hosed anyway!).

Thanks!!!!

it looks like the database owner was changed due to using a different account when upgrading DNN. there might the connection string being changed or whatever. all tables have to run using the same database owner, otherwise some might not be accessible. Your hosting provider should be able to help moving all tables to the correct ownership.
