Hello!

How can I maximize my hosting account for multiple clients?

Using a hosted account such as WebHost4Life
I have a temp url
http://site.mysite4now.com/myaccount/
which is probably a DNN child portal

WH4L has a feature to create a DotNetNuke 4.02 site

I now have
http://site.mysite4now.com/myaccount/dnn/

using one of my two domain names, domainA.com
within WH4L, I see that I can either choose a path or choose to
redirect to a url
since I know my new dnn site url, i redirect, however this is not very
satisfying since i lose my domain name upon the redirect
c:\hosting\webhost4life\member
\myaccount\dnn\
fails, gives me an error and upon attemtping to set the custom errors
mode to off in the root directory doesn't seem to be picked up. what
is the root path that the original redirect url is going to?

so i want to use my default site, the root site as marketing for my
service offerings and use children or parent portals for my clients

so if i create parent (or child) portals under my default site so that i have
http://site.mysite4now.com/myaccount/dnn/client1
http://site.mysite4now.com/myaccount/dnn/client2

will i be able to use WH4L to set a domain name to a path so that
client1domain.com and client2domain.com maintain the domain within the
url?

my previous attempts at creating a parent portal do not allow me to login
so now i created a parent called parentA with a login of adminA/adminA
my first problem is that the website redirects using firefox to
http://www.parenta.com/
so that tells me that i have to use an alias that i own and if i own
domainA.com that i should use domainA.com as the alias
however i don't know where i should have domainA.com pointing to
what is the internal dnn url or as we've discussed, i want to know the
path so that i maintain my domain instead of immediately losing it

Thanks In Advance!
-Jeff

I also have been struggling with the multiple website issue at Webhost4life. Their auto install feature places the DNN installation into a subdirectory of your choosing and your first domain is redirected to this folder. However, when you want to redirect a second domain to that installation of DNN for use on a portal, Webhost4life wants $15.00/year for the priviledge (so much for the free unlimited domains they advertise...).

If any one knows of a way around this, please help. Thanks.

In the control panel, there is actually a place for "add domain to subfolder" and you can use that if you already have a paying domain pointed to that subfolder. If you do it this way, you will actualy not be charged another $15 for the new domain added to that same dnn installation.

First off all, the temporary URL is actually not a dnn child portal. The temporary URL does not have any content installed by default, you can install anything you want(of course, assuming you use something supported by your specific plan).

As far as parent portal/child portal issue, just point all of the domains to where the set of files actually sits, and then manage everything within DNN, you can have as many as you want using DNN.
