Hi Forums Team,
My user base has been reporting some strange behavior with the forums module. One specific issue, a user would update their forum profile, but the update would not appear for quite some time. Another, I would create a new forum, and move it up in the list, but that change also would not be apparent until some time elapsed.

I did some testing and investigation. We have Data Caching turned on for our portal to increase performance. Setting this to "Light Caching" seemed to alleviate this specific issue somewhat. Are there issues with the forum module and data caching? Also, we have a round-robin web farm of sorts 3 web servers that share the same SQL database server, a NetScaler manages which web server a request is sent to. Are there issues with the forums module in this type of set up?

Thanks very much.

for a web farm, you might need a distributed caching provider, as included in PE or provided by PowerDNN.

I think Sebastian hit the nail on the head. My past experience with clients who have a farm w/out a distributed caching provider has shown exactly what you are seeing now.

As an FYI, dotnetnuke.com is running a webfarm (using PE) and the forum module depends (heavily) on cached data (consider the number of threads/posts/users here, the site would crash if it didn't).

Thanks guys. We do have PE, haven't installed it on our production portal as of yet.
