Subscription Workflow



I am just wondering how to manage the following situation. I need to offer a subscription workflow mechanism with Paypal and/or Google Checkout with the following rules.
  1. Only users that are subscribed can see restricted content and the subscription is controlled from start date to end date range, e.g, from May.31/2010 through May.31/2012, in this regard I need to know if I can use the form fields for user registration as the user must finally be registered as a current DNN user. If I can use the form fields for user registration, may I use other defined fields I need to collect.
  2. Thus, user fills out a form, selects one of three paid subscriptions, namedly: - Friends of the Association with U$xxx, - Members in the US and other Countries with U$xxx; and -Student with U$XXX, it must connect to PayPal (with proper configuration and help in this regard is also considered) and/or Google Account (again, help on configuration and usage in this regard is also appreciated) and only when the payment has been successfully is the user actually registered in the DNN database.  I wonder up to which level can this workflow be automated (no human intervention whatsoever)
  3. Another issue is a way to import users to DNN  registered users
I want some guidance here. Or does anybody of a good module to use that can create this workflow. I mean, a form subscription with payment and DNN user data interaction.

I don't know how to handle the form (but I have some ideas) but I would check out the Ventrian Subscription tools for the PayPal and role assignment part. You can see it live on the PokerDIY PRO plans.

This will handle the role assignment on successful return from PayPal - then it's just a matter of segregating your content by role. It also handles reminders when the sub is about to expire. Recurring subscriptions are on the roadmap.

You could use any of the popular form modules and capture the information (either put it on the success return page from PayPal or on a page under their account somewhere - it may not be as fluid as you'd like but it will work...

Very valuable your comments. I took a look a any of your links. I found the Ventrian Subscription component here http://www.ventrian.com/Home.aspx. And Coding Stuff has a similar component http://www.codingstaff.com/products/dotnetnuke-modules/dnn-subscription with a trial free period, no $$$ to try as in Ventrian. I just don't know the difference. Well. But what if I need to ask for custom data about the registered user, I see no point in this regard. What do you think?

Yes, the hardest part is going to be the form you want - there is another subscription module that was released recently - try Snow or search forums but it was big $$$. Bear in mind that with the maturity of the DNN market (as compared to PHPNuke/Sharepoint etc) you very rarely find a module that does 100% what you want.
