I mistakenly added a portal without the information that will allow it to work. Unfortunately, when I log in as host and try to correct my stupidity, I get error message 'run time error'
delete, change, etc... nothing works.

How do I go back in time and fix this?

You could restore the database from a previous back-up. Then if you'd like (not needed), remove the folder that corrisponded to the failed portal under the 'Portals' directory.

That's one option - (or one I call the last resort) I've had to do this when I didn't know how to go about changing it - And it happens more often  than you might be aware of... sometimes I think a little note or alert on top of the portal section with an example could help too..

If you log in via the main portal, then you should be able to click on Host/Portals - click the offending new portal and it takes you to the settings page, where you can scroll down and edit the portal alias.

You can also access it via SQL in the PortalAlias table, but that' could also be a bit difficult if you don't have easy access.

And, as a last resort, restore a backup like cjsmitty suggested,  but I do confess, I don't backup before adding child portals, but now I'm thinking perhaps I should..  I'll need a whole new server for temporary backups I think..
