Dear Nicolas,
I apologize for being rude and arrogant to you, and I don't want to simply excuse myself being a non-native English speaker.
I should have avoided the last sentence at all, or I should have more elaborated on the thoughts behind.
You asked for a special regular expression. Now you must know that nobody loves regular expressions. That language is awful. If there did not exist tools like Expresso, I would not be able to answer this question.
Therefore the best answer would have been simply a link to that tool (or any other, there are plenty of them), and not the answer itself.
Sometimes I am just too curious on this kind of challenges. I fired up Expresso, and it took me few minutes to work out the expression. IMHO it would be arrogant not sharing the result with you.
I noticed over the last months that more and more users rather come here for help but with special individual demands. There are fewer questions about how things are working and how to solve a problem though more tasks like “I need this kind of template, please write it for me”.
The reg exp request is similar, and “Still no answers for 2 weeks” indicated to me that there is a strong expectation to get this solved here inside the forums. It also looks to me that no attempt had been made in two weeks to solve it on your own; otherwise the “bump” post would have contained non-working expressions like \d\d.
This all doesn’t justify getting rude and I certainly did not mean you personally.
I am aware that most requests are not meant to be aggressive and are written in good faith. Nevertheless they often make me feel treated like an idiot who does the work of others for free.
Being part of an Open Source project means to me that I can act self-determined on features I am interested in and which provide me fun to work on. If my work turns into a successful project used by a number of people, I know that I did not waste my spare (and rare) time. It makes me also aware that people will rely on the tool and its functionality and it is the responsibility of the team to keep the project running.
Currently I am the only developer in team. New enhancement requests must match my requirements, or at least they should not violate them. Otherwise it might take longer (or it will never happen) that they get in. Nevertheless I would appreciate if new members stepped in and volunteer, even if it was only a short term engagement for a single feature. Indeed this is quite unusual.
I also love to share my knowledge here in forum. Users report their issues, ideas and requests. Their posts have great influence and inspiration on my work. However the tone has changed over the years, it became more arrogating/ demanding. I guess that after 2k of posts in this forum I am getting tired and dissatisfied.
I’ll need to take care that my mood has no influence on future answers though.
Thank you,
best regards
Stefan
