The overloads of ExecuteSQL keep causing errors.

I had a silverlight album module installed and I have used it extensively in one of my sites. I cannot just remove them, I would have quite a job to move all photographs to a different album module. Therefore, I think I will have to stay with 5.4.2 for a while.

TYhis is the contents of what one seems to call "the yellow screen of death" over here.

Of course, I now have no way to check if the iWeb bug is resolved or not, but I guess it is not.

I can confirm the issue, Brings2Mind Document Manager also throws an exception:

DefaultDataProvider: DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider, DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider

Sounds like it could be related to:

(Any chance you can trim your post please, going off the screen :) )

Yes, Alex, it is related to the original issue you referenced.

In 5.4.3, the new overload

Function ExecuteSQL(ByVal ConnectionString As String, ByVal SQL As String) As IDataReader

was renamed to ExecuteSQLTemp which should have taken care of the issue. However, the original overload used by iWeb and other DAL+ modules

Function ExecuteSQL(ByVal SQL As String, ByVal ParamArray commandParameters() As IDataParameter) As IDataReader

has been removed completely and replaced by a new three parameter overload

Function ExecuteSQL(ByVal ConnectionString As String, ByVal SQL As String, ByVal ParamArray commandParameters() As IDataParameter) As IDataReader

Now, not only iWeb's use of the DAL+ continues to throw the original ambiguous method error but all DAL+ calls to ExecuteSQL will throw a missing method exception. I would think the addition of the following overload would correct this issue:

Public Overrides Function ExecuteSQL(ByVal SQL As String, ByVal ParamArray commandParameters() As IDataParameter) As IDataReader
        Return ExecuteSQL(_connectionString, SQL, commandParameters)
End Function

with the corresponding Public MustOverride Function ExecuteSQL method declaration added to the abstract DataProvider class.

I think I'll pass on this one and wait for 05.04.04. Another month?
