I recently made a copy of our production instance of DNN and a copy of the production database.  My intent is to use this local copy for new module development.  After making the copies, I altered the web.config with the new db credentials and changed the portal alias.  However when I run this instance from VS 2005, I get a 404 error.  Any ideas?

PS I have used this copy method to my local machine before and has worked but now it doesn't.

Are you running from VS or through IIS? I do what you describe above but I run DNN through IIS and not through VS. I find it much easier to make my changes, save, then test it on the site.
