I am feeling a bit sheepish about this one, since I requested that telephone numbers should be shown in the Event Details Edit form, and in 5.1.1 RC3 they are!

I would also like (the option) to show email addresses along with telephone numbers.  Although there is a good facility to email selected enrollees, the way I have set up my DotNetNuke configuration, not all enrollees (Users) have valid email addresses.  While this may sound odd, we have to enroll people to events, even if the individual does not have an email address.  I use nonsense email addresses like none@none.com for these Users.  When trying to contact individuals enrolled for an event, the event owner needs to be able to work out whether email will do, or whether they have to pick up the phone (or Skype!).

The new facility to enroll n 'friends' does not solve this issue (we still need to know who the 'friends' are)

Cheers, Richard

Hi Richard,

I just noticed, email address is available on the detail screen but not on the edit screen. Something that should be corrected. However you should be able to click through to the users details if they have made the visible in their profile.

Please can you add your request for friends information to CodePlex providing as much detail as possible as to how you see that working, and wee will consider for a future release. Bear in mind that currently we don't support unregistered users enrolling for events, and enabling this would require a reasonably major level of change to the module.

Cheers
Roger

By the way, I don't think edit view ever did show email addresses, but I may be wrong... :-(

You are right - it did not show email addresses!  I just checked an old virtual machine - it had space for telephone numbers but none showed

I also just noticed the Edit screen no longer shows the enrolled user's name which is pretty important when trying to contact somebody.  Also, click through to profiles is not enabled on users in the Event Details screen, and should also be considered as a useful feature for the Edit screen when it does display usernames.

Another useful click-through would be from Event Details to special event page, if present.

I am not asking for unregistered users to be able to enrol in events!  It is just that some of my registered users do not have email addresses.

The broader picture for me is that my main site is for a family-oriented 4WD club.  Events may be limited by individual (eg training session) or by vehicle (to restrict convoy length or camping site limits).  I have built a parallel structure to Events using individual event pages linked by the Form and List module.  This  shows participation by vehicle, camping trailer, driver, co-driver, and passengers, plus financial status and previous training.  The structures are linked so each event page links to the matching Event Detail, while a hyperlink in the event description links the other way (that is why I would prefer a special page hyperlink in the standard module).  I need half a dozen extra event fields too, so I have overlaid these into the event description.

(Will insert image here when I can get Telerik to see them!)

The DNN Core does not support our concept of Membership, which is a family unit with vehicles and trailers.  I have built another parallel structure using Form and List to link Users (which include vehicles and trailers implemented as separate Users!) into Memberships.  Some nifty database triggers attempt to keep the structures aligned!

A useful model to consider might be a motel booking system.  There is a basic room charge which is the same for one or two people, plus a different charge for each additional person.  I know this is hard, but you did ask!

Cheers, Richard
