I'm trying - to no avail - to install to an iPower.net server, for a buddy of mine, and they have both MS SAL Database' and MySQL available...

Which do I need to use?

I've tried various things and no matter what I do, it hangs in the installation stage (can't post a log, as I've recently dropped both databases, in frustration).

Additionally, the install won't allow an 'Auto' install, it grays it out and only allows me a 'Custom,' or 'Typical' one.

I've got Charles Nurse's 'DotNetNuke Installation Guide, but that doesn't come CLOSE to helping, locally, since I've got Win7.64 and running IIS 7.5.

Any help here, since I can't remotely decompress the zip (yep, I've gotta upload EVERYONE of those fraggin' files, individually), and teh install guide is useless?

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,

In addition to the responses on the other post you made, can I add the following.

1) Did you try using the windows application installer that MS ship now?  It may take care of the hard work

2) It can be a bit confusing, but there are enough articles (at least 4-5 good ones) out there to get DNN working on Win7 / IIS 7.5 or Win2K8, so do persevere.  You will get it working, and once you do, you will be able to repeat it again on any machine in 5 minutes.

The only installer that I know anything about is the one via IIS 7.5.... Is there another one? Hopefully number 2 would come rapidly, after number 1.

Well, here's how things went....

After attempting to install DNN about a kaBILLION times, I decided a different approach:

I uninstall EVERY instance of ANYTHING SQL that I had installed, went through the updated to the newest version of the  Web Platform Installer (per someone's GREAT suggestion), and downloaded the Community Edition (AGAIN); there-in forcing it to reinstall all of the SQL framework.

After that it was gravy.

Now all I've got to do is figure out how to get it transferred over to the server.

Anyone know of a clear and concise guide to migration?
