Hi All,

I am kind of stuck with an issue.
Actually I need to access an HTML document\template from my web page and save it as a word document in a different location after updating certain fields.

The html document\template is residing in a sharepoint library but that is not the point of concern, I am not sure about the approach; how to actually access the HTML template and update the fields (If I'm not mistaken,  I'll have to access the controls by their IDs using Javascript).

Please help me out if anyone has achieved a similar task through C# code as I'm not very much sure how to achieve the same.

Thanks in Advance,
Abhishek

Are you using DNN?  Have you asked in the ASP.NET forums at www.asp.net?

Seems doable, but it'll take some work. In a nutshell it seems you want to: 1. Open a file stream to a file 2. Parse through looking for some value designating a field you want to change 3. Update that value and save it 4. Convert the new file to a .doc file The first 3 are pretty straight forward. You'll find lots of examples of opening, parsing, writing info from files. You'll have to come up with some way of specifying the file, fields and values to change, maybe some controls for the users to input or hard-coded if they'll never change. No idea how to convert a .html to a .doc file however. I'm sure there are some window lib calls you could make, but you'll have to hop on google to find out for sure.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the response, reading the file content as a file stream is fine but the issue is that I'll not be able to access the controls in that (html) file then, the only way will be to do some string manipulation.
I am actually looking for an approach so that I can access that html file, not as a file stream but as some object like HTMLDocument or something(.....I'm not sure but some HTMLDocument class is there i think) and assign the values to the controls in that file......This may sound a bit stupid but that's what I  mentioned in my first post...I'm not clear about the approach.

Thanks,
Abhishek
