We are using Blogs 4.0.0 and just started a blog for the president of our organization. She is using Windows Live Writer as it present the easiest way for her to post new entries and it seemed to work well with the blogs module. However, WLW does not support the tagging used in the DNN blog. This was a minor problem as I assumed the responsibility of routinely checking her posts and added tags when appropriate.

However, after her most recent entry, I found that I could not add tags to her entry. I even logged into DNN using her credentials and it still would not save the tags I entered in the edit screen. I double-checked and am entering them correctly and the tags will work on new entries. No error message is displayed. Upon clicking the "Save" button, the screen refreshes back to the entries view and no new tags are ever saved.

We had a couple of initial entries that I added through the DNN interface and the tags were added as it was initially posted. On any entry where the tags where initially provided, I can edit the tags without issue. It's only on the posts that are saved through WLW that I cannot add tags.

Help!

Thanks,
-chris

I don't think that the current version supports tags through WLW.  However, I use the tags plugin that comes in WLW.  Was your intention to simply add tags, or add tags into the taxonomy feature of DNN?

Thanks for the reply Will. I'm attempting to add tags to the post through the DNN Blogs interface after it was posted to the blog via WLW. After I attempt to add them and click on "Save", the page will simply refresh without adding the tags. No error is displayed. -chris

Looks like you've found a bug in the module.  I have reported it for you:  http://dnnblog.codeplex.com/workitem/...

Just a follow-up on this issue: I noticed that ANY edits to any of the blog post would also not be saved and the problem was not isolated to just the tags. I also discovered that in all the cases where tags could not be added to the post after it was posted, the summary was not provided in the entry. After providing an actual summary, the tags and other edit would save properly. Not sure if this was by design or a bug. In any case, I thought I would mention the solution here for anyone experiencing the same problem in the future.
