I am new to DNN. I installed DNN and started developing my first module using an online tutorial. My new module showed up under "Module Definitions" and I was able to add a new page and place the new module on the new page. However, that is when everything went wrong. At least that is when I could SEE that something had gone horribly wrong.
The new page with my new module was blank. I now had 4 menu pages, Home, Admin, Host, and my new module page. The real problem showed up when I closed the website and tried to go back to it. The website now had NOTHING. The home page was now blank and the login link would not go anywhere. After surfing the net for a LONG time and not finding anything that would help, I decided that starting over was probably the best thing to do.
I deleted everything from my website directory and deleted the database. I started over with the installation. After a couple of minor issues, everything seemed to go as expected. The install package indicated success and I thought I would be back in business. Much to my surprise, the newly installed home page was blank and the login link goes nowhere. When I first attempt to connect to
http://localhost/DotNetNuke website it takes a looooooooooong time to build that blank home page.
How could a brand new install be corrupted in the same way the old one was? Is there a some setup/config file I have accidentally left behind that needs to be deleted? Is there some setting I have overlooked? Is this an IIS issue I am mistaking for a DNN issue? My boss really expects me to make some progress on this project and so far it ain't happening.
