Hmm

I replace 3.5 -> 4.0 and the upgrade ran but died in cleanup
Does this look like the site will survive?

Cheers

make sure not to touch web.config. if you simply transfer a web site, you need to use same .Net version, on DNN upgrades you may upgrade ASP.Net framework as well.

your last issue is definitely a permission issue, make sure the asp.net account has been granted full fill system permissions and files are not "blocked" for being downloaded from the web.

Hello Sebastin,

I am having the same problem. Mine was a case of upgrade from 4.5.5 to 5.5.1.  The older 4.5.5 version is being ran using .Net Framework 4.0. So after extracting the upgrade files into the root file and change the copy the necessary web config sections into the new web.config, I still get the following error message:
CS1703: An assembly with the same identity 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' has already been imported. Try removing one of the duplicate references.

Will appreciate any assistance you can render towards resolving this.

Adegbolahan.

Hi Adegbolahan,

your error message told that you have a double entry on your web.config file.  I assume to check the web.config file and make sure that the assembly is only added one time to the web.config file.
