I would like to add a pane to my skin to allow users to login. Perhaps I am searching for the incorrect term but I can't see anyway of doing this. Can anyone help please?

Martin,

You've got 3 options when it comes to providing your users with the facility to login to your DNN site:

1. With a login skin object included in the skin - this creates a login button that call the login form so your users can enter their details
2. With a SignIn skin object - this includes a login form within the skin by default without the need for you adding one as a module.
3. By adding an Account Login module to a pane - you can add an Account Login module to any of the panes available in your skin, this will provide a login form for your users to login through.

Hope this helps.

Rick.

Rick,

Wow! How is it that I have never heard of the SignIn skin object? I went to add that to one of my sites (DNN 5.4.4) and there is no signin.ascx file under Admin/Skins as the Register Tag specifies http://www.thinkofdesign.com/resource...

Any idea why I wouldn't have this?

Thanks,

Ralph,

Not sure why you've never have heard of it as I'm sure it's in the skinning docs, although in all honesty I've never included it in any of my skins, so it's not one of my well used options. I'm also not sure why it's not included in your DNN files, do you know if it's something missing from that specific version?

Rick.

Yeah, I thought I knew all of the skin objects, but I guess not. I have been starting to implement some jQuery, Twitter-like login to my sites and it has been a pain to have to use the module for it. So, this definitely makes things a bit easier for me.

I finally found it in the following location: /DesktopModules/Admin/Authentication. Strange that it wasn't in the Skins folder... Oh well.

Thanks!
