I'm a newbee to DNN and installed the latest DNN version, I'm finding it absolutely daunting getting documentation for DNN. As a example yesterday I decided to learn the basics of the DNN Blog 4.0.0 module, I spent 12 hrs researching thru 3 new  DNN 5 books I just purchased, getting online researching any resource I could find - which basically resulted in learning a lot about what-I-should-do but nothing about how-to-do-it.
I just don't understand the point in releasing new products they if they are not accompanied with documentation. - it's a bit like buying a car and not getting the keys. Anyway time is valuable, I've decided to try to replace the new Blog version with the older version (which I have found documentation for).

Hello Attila,

First, let me try to help you out by saying that the documentation you found for the older version will apply to 95% of the new version. That said, I would advice you try version 4.0 again using the very same documentation. I am sure that you will be able to figure out the remaining 5% of new features in much less that 12 hours ;-)

Back to the issue of documentation, you are correct - there is none. This is because, as an open source project goes, we tend to focus more on writing code than to write documentation. I agree, this is not optimal for end users, but I would use your same analogy of "buying a car", and say that, you actually did NOT buy anything - this was free product which you downloaded without providing a credit card :P (Sorry to be so blunt, but this is the reality). I assure you, it took up a whole lot more than 12 hours to write this module. In fact, it took a team of 5, more than 3 years to get it to where it is today.

Now back to being productive... I have been thinking about creating VIDEOS (not documentation) which would show you every aspect of setting this bad boy up.... but again, since I don't get paid to do this I can't actually give you a timeline, but I'll sure blog about it here on DotNetNuke. Stay tuned.

I hope this helps.
