I'm trying to implement a very basic blog that will behave in a fashion similar to a news feed. There needs to be  small section on the homepage that displays the latest several events with a limited character count description and a "Read More" link. This link will need to display the "Blog" page with the full news item that was selected.

This is the first time I've used the Blog, and after working with it for the better part of a day, I can't get it to act the way I want. Is what I've described possible with this module? Is there another module that would be a better choice? Any advice would be much appreciated.

How about using the blog module to enter the actual data, and the using an RSS reader module to read the feeds?
You could add and format the RSS reader to any page you would like which then points to the actual article.

Would that work?
