Hi - after doing a lot of research and investigation into dot net based CMS systems I feel that the editing and modular architecture features would suit my project best, I'm not sure it will work but I'd LIKE the features offered by DNN. Basically i'm an ex coder - i understand the princibles but dont want to reinvent the wheen every time to recode RSS feeds, news, blogs etc.
I have a number of domains that are in a similar feild that could easily share content and features. Currenly they are running on a shared hosting and the management of templates and content is a pain as i have to do every site indivifually. I understand that the individuality of each site is important to its search engine ranking but anything to improve the management and speed up development time is a grea improvement
So basically I'd like to
- have a single point (single install / IP) to manage these undeveloped domains
- be able to have unique content on each site
- be able to skin/ apply a new CSS per site dynamically?
- share a common database of content
- be able to add new sites quickly based on a limited number of templates
the number of sites could possibly be in the 1000s although not all of these would have unique content I would like to be able to rapidly roll domains out with standard features such as unique titles / rss feed, preferably managed from a single DB
any thoughts on DNN ability to do this appreciated - i think i'm asking would i be better off developing my own simple CMS based on a limited criteria or would DNN give me the scope to develop basic templates into more advanced sites in the future without a fundmental change of architecture. The key function I havent seen yet in DNN is dynamic content from a configuration DB?
again honest opinions and thoughts appreciated. Apologies for the large open ended question, everything is possible i know but easy mangement is paramount to its sucess.
thanks
Ben
