I am using a hosting service that I recently learned is capping out the memory of the app pool (through the recycling settings) at 250MB private and 500MB virtual.  Is this a reasonable amount?
What can DNN do to reduce its memory foot print?  What can I do in current versions to help keep it low?    Our site start getting slower and slower when people are visiting and editing pages, I suspect because the application is constantly recycling.

I say even 500MB is not gonna do it for a busy site. You need to beef up your hosting infrastructure. This blog post may also help.
