Okay, I will give it a shot.  If it doesn't work, I promise to bother you more.  I don't have the female left handed  excuse, but I guess I can play the male, righthanded and absent minded excuse.

By the way, when I look into an existing skin project, I see the .ascx file.  Does the code behind for that file get compiled into a .dll somewhere?

The .ascx file for a skin does not have a code-behind file that get's compiled into a .dll
It inherits from code that is already compiled in the namespace "DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin"

The examples above use inline code which is not pre-compiled into a dll. 
It gets compiled Just-In-Time (JIT) by the asp.net framework and can be changed anytime and the framwork will re-compile it.

Excellent.  Thank you both for your help.  I will place some inline code in the .ascx file to switch the image out.  That makes sense.  Again, both of you have been a tremendous help and it is very much appreciated.
