OK, I have read posts here about exporting/importing the database.. But still have a few questions. I am new to DNN and everything I know i got from DNN for dummies etc. So my problem is that I got to run a site under DNN and some older version. As its all in mess... I somehow think it would be easiest way to do with it is to export database and import it to the new instance of the portal.

What is the most important are users and forum posts that were in YAF module forum. So, lets say I have a database file and a new site/forum. Can anyone tell me the way this could be done in least paintfull way :)

As I dont know what info you would need to help me, please ask. I would really rally appritiate the help.

Backup you local or remote database and files.

Restore create same username on new SQL server and then restore the database backup on the new SQL Server.  Connect to database open the PortalAlias table change the URL if needed (eg. from http://localhost/DNN to http://domain.com )

Extract backuped DNN files, change the 2 URL to the new SQL Server on the 2 connection strings.

Make sure the IIS Annonyoususer have read permissions and the applicationpool user have full permissions to all DNN files and folders.

Viola.
