It's going to be neccessary for me to create a new copy of the events module that can run on the same portal as the core module.
Will this be an easy task?  Can someone help me with the source that needs changed so I can have 2 installs of the events module?
Thanks.

Hi,

It depends on what you are trying to achieve. You can have more than one instance of the module on your site.

But what I'm getting is that you one to have two complete installs i.e. two sets of tables, two sets of code, etc. If you wan to do this, it depends on what you call easy... It is a relatively easy job if you understand the structure of a DNN module, and are familiar with coding in Visual Studio. If you aren't familiar with either of these, it won't be so easy. Essentially you would need to change the code to a different class name (I think, don't know if that is the right term), and so it will compile as a new set of DLLs. You would also need to change all the tables and stored procedures to use a name other than 'Events'.

Not sure why you would want to do this though.

Cheers
Roger

Hey Roger, thanks for your reply.  The main reasons for wanting separate installations is we need 2 separate category lists and location lists.  If the categories and locations were separate and I could choose them indepently based on the calendar I was displaying I could use just 1 install.  This is one significant feature request I think would be usefull.

For me, I thought it might be easier to create a separate install since I am not a confident coder. ;-)

Doing what you are thinking of is not simple if you aren't confident. I don't think I can recommend it to you. You can of course raise a featute request on CodePlex, but that will take time to get into a production release.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Roger
