Hi,
I'm new to DNN and i'm using 5.5 version.
I'm beginning a project that consists in creating a portal to centralize a few applications (web applications) used by several team members. The idea is doing this using iframes, or telerik radwindows (preferencial).

1. A problem is when i navigate the dnn site (other tabs or pages), or even when i refresh the current page and come back to the page with the iframe (or radwindow), it reloads the iframe url and loses the previous user session. Is it possible to keep the session (and when i say "session", it is the exact page state) that the user had before leaving the parent page? If yes, how can i do this?

2. I'm using AD authentication provider. Some of the web application i'm accessing by the iframes require authentication too, in the same AD. How can I pass the current DNN authentication to the web application in the Iframe?

Excuse my poor english.
Thanks in advance.

If I understand what you say, I’d suggest:

A.      Use jQuery  for the tabs but make sure you’re not abandon the tabs content when switching between them . I mean make sure the tabs and content are all present in the page (and populated). I have this behavior in some sites. This way you keep your session and actually the page is open. (Since it is a stateless application I do not think you have a way of  “remembering” where you were. )

B.      I think AD authentication as a start is a good direction.

Thanks for your reply Yehuda,
A. I've been searching about how to do this but I didn't found anything useful yet. I need to replace DNN Navmenu by a jquery menu, right? How can I do that? Do you know a skin that have this behaviour to show me the way?

B. Yes, I already have AD authentication in my site. When I access to another portal (in the iframe) that requires AD auth too, I want to pass my main user credentials to the "sub-portal" windows authentication. I didn't found how to do that too. Will I have to use cookies?

Thank you in advance.

Hello Carlos,

Can you use our newly developed Ifarme, which supports multiple tabs in single iframe. The name of the Iframe is MfTabIframe.

The mfTabIFrame module helps to display content from another web site along with contents from intranet site, images, videos files and document within a frame. Multiple tab can be added  and every tab will render its own data defined by site administrator. All the tabs can be added / managed by the site administrator or users having the mfTabIFrame edit permission. Current mfTabIFrame module features supports controlling Header text, Footer  text, width, height, Auto height, border, and overflow scrolling. The mfTabIFrame module is well comparable with DNN 4.x and DNN 5.x.

As for A, No, you don’t need to change the NAV. You can use a HTML module with the correct jQuery reference and code. Or you can look at Snowcovered.com
