I installed DotNetNuke using the default install and in the install path, I pointed to C:\Websites\DotNetNuke. I am using the SQLExpress install. After I installed the site, I changed the folder from C:\Websites\DotnetNuke to C:\Websites\LSSCSupport (which better reflected it's purpose.). Developed the site and have been using it for several months without a problem.

The Server is a Windows 2008SPs x64 virtual server on a Windows Server 2008R2 Hyper-V host. We recently started using a product called BackupAssist to back up the VMs from the Host server and it keeps failing on the server running DotnetNuke. The error logs inticate that it is trying to backup C:\Websites\DotnetNuke\App_Data\Database.mdf when the actual path is C:\Websites\LSSCSupport\App_Data\Database.mdf.

I cannot find out where the setting is that is referencing the incorrect path. I did a registry search on the server and it was not in there. Does anyone know where the path to the database is stored so I can correct it?

Thanks,

Dave

Did you happen to install SSMS on the server? Perhaps you connected the DB with that tool at some point before you moved it? Will it backup the rest of the system, just not that database file?

Yes, I have SQL Server 2005 and SSMS installed on the server, however, I let the DotnetNuke install use SQLExpress. If I uninstall SSMS and SQL Server 2005, would that have any adverse impact on the SQLExpress install of the database.mdf file I am currently using?

it is not a question of SSMS being installed, but if you attach DNN database using SSMS, it can no longer be accessed using "Express" format of the connection string (even after SSMS has been closed). Either detach database or use "classical" connection string using database name and an appropriate SQL server account.
