The website I'm building is dutch. Therefor I downloaded a languagepack for DotNetNuke. I've understood that when I'll update to a new version of DotNetNuke there's no problem with these translations, at worst I'd have to download a new languagepack.

But what is the situation with modules?
I can translate these by myself, using the language-editor. But if I want to update a module in the future, are these translations gone?! That would be a no-go as I'm building a template right now to build a series of websites in the same layout. They have to be future-proof :).

Thanks in advance!

if you translate a module in system mode, you are creating additional files which are not overwritten on upgrades. If you modify a translation included in the code, a module or installed language pack, you should modify using host mode, those changes will be preserved on upgrades as well.
