I also just had this problem.  For me it is because I have align=center on the content pane that the module is in, switch it back to align="left" and it works normally.

I haven't tracked it down in  the spmenu.js yet, because it is more a nusiance than anything else for me, but I'll let you know when I do.

John, do you mean the skin's pane or the container's pane?
I ask because I've seen this problem too.

The Skin's pane.

John,

You must be talking about the Admin alignment setting for a module (Module Menu --> Settings --> Page Settings --> Alignment)?

I'm not sure this is the problem. In the default DNN-Blue skin, all the skin content pane TD's are set align="center" and same for the containers. Making the change in Module Settings doesn't move the menu on my dev box.

No, I'm talking about the Skin's Content Pane.  Mine is not a fixed width, it is set at a percentage so that the module gets centered in the middle depending on the browser width.  The module is only 600px wide, but my content pane is about 1000px, so the ActionMenu shows up offset.

The default dnn-blue skin is fixed width, so it may be happenning there but it's just not noticeable becasue there isn't much difference in the position of where the top left of the module is with align=center or align=left.
