Gallery & Emotions:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Process ForumImage gallery module:

Error while creating gallery folder for ForumImage.
There is not enough space on the disk.
Update forum configuration with new ForumImage module...OK
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is one of my favorits:
---------------------------------------------------------------------

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

And every now and then, we are graced by an Appliation error and a big white and yellow page.

For some reason I am unable to add module definitions, images, banners...ect as I get the message:
There is not enough space on the disk.

As host I have aloted 750MG for this site and I know I am no where that, but for some reason the software see's ot differently.

There are a lot of good things about this software so please dont think I am bashing it, it's just a pain when you start getting Emails from users telling you about errors you cant do anything about.

While we are on the subjet of Email, what do I need to enter for the SMTP settings?
I have tried my ISP's email server, GMail and noting has worked.

Help would be very appreciated. I am not going to upgrade to 4.0.3 because of all the problems I have read about both here and on the web.

Thank you for your time and help,
Will O'Malley

DNN needs space in two areas:

  • for the database - especially ensure that the transaction log is frequently truncated
  • for the file directory - this means as well physical space as space granted by the host in host specific portal settings.

To answer your alst question: The smtp server isn't your smtp server that you use for sending mail from your ISP (or indeed gmail)  but the SMTP server of the web hosting service that you use. They should have documentation on the relevant server settings.

Leupold thank you for the reply,
Here are some of my settings, if you would like more info please let me know

** Removed bad Joke **

Ok, really I got the Email working...so easy yet elusive.

Here are some of my settings:
Under Host settings:
Site Log Storage: Database
Performance Settings: Hevy Caching

Under Portals:
The only portal I have: ParanormalCorner.info has 750 MB of space assigned.

Under Admin: Log Viewer
I have cleared out all the data

Could you give me some feed back as far as the settings go?

Thank you again,

Will

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

That error should have been fixed with the latest release iirc. Anyone know if it was fixed and if so when the general public will get hold of it? To put it bluntly it is the single most annoying bug for me in the whole of DNN as it makes pretty much any chance of upgrading my DNN2 sites impossible...
