I just completed the installation of a brand new DotNetNuke Professional 5.05.  So far so good, but I'm confused about the uploading of user photos.

It seems that if I am loged in as the superuser, I can upload photos to the user profiles, but when I'm logged in as a regular registered user, I can not upload my own photo.  The error message I receive is:

You Do Not Have Sufficient Permission To Write To Folder Users/003/03/3/. Please Contact Your Hosting Provider To Ensure The Appropriate Security Settings Have Been Enabled On The Server.

The NETWORK SERVICE account has full control of the installation directory as instructed in the installation documentation, and since I am able to upload files when logged in as superuser I doubt it's a filesystem permissions issue.

I've dug around for documentation and haven't found much about individual user rights, and searched this forum only to find suggestions that I've already tried like ensuring NETWORK SERVICE has full control.

What do I need to do to grant all registered users, current and future, the necessary rights to give them the ability to upload their profile pictures?

Thanks!

I have come across the same thing. Surely someone must know about this !!!! @#!@#? You Do Not Have Sufficient Permission To Write To Folder Users/008/08/8/. Please Contact Your Hosting Provider To Ensure The Appropriate Security Settings Have Been Enabled On The Server. Per Brooks post - my install is a standard install on Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2005 - and like Brooks my NETWORK SERVICE has full permissions. Can *someone* help??? Cheers, Duncan.

go to FileManager in Admin menu and grant write permission to all users for the /users folder and all sub folders. It should get inherited for new folders created

Thank you Sebastian for your reply. Unfortunately there is a major problem with you advise, which I can't figure out. The Users folder (or anything under it) is not visible in the DNN File Manager. Why is that? It has the same permissions as any other folder in the portal??? Kinda got me baffled as to why that is. Cheers, Duncan (quite happy to make *anyone* an admin on the (test) site to see what's going on - and help with this problem.

OK, well incredibly it's still not working. I've: edited the security settings on the server directly; added Everyone and IIS users accounts and given them Full permissions (which I don't think is very secure! ). And yet still... * I can't upload a picture * in the DNN site, File Manager; the Users folder is not visible Got me beat! :( Cheers, Duncan.
