Hi
Been using DNN for a number of years I want to learn how to write modules for DNN. Looking on AMAZON there is a number can anyone please recommend something that starts right at the basics. I have no experience in this I can Skin and been using SQL in other projects but dont have any idea how to write a module. As I have very limted ,net and asp knowledge should I start somewhere else and work my way up?

What book helped you get on your way.

Cheers

Tim

If you've no experience as a programmer then a vb.net/c# beginners book would be a good place to start -for beginning DotNetNuke module developer the Mitchell Sellers book is a good option - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-DotNetNuke-Module-Programming-Programmer/dp/0470171162/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1289569963&sr=8-3

Buy the new Professional DNN7: Open Source .NET CMS Platform book Amazon US

I just got a copy of latest "DNN 5.4 Cookbook" by John K. Murphy (Packt Publishing) and I really like it - easy to read, covering many techniques from intro to module development via advanced techniques and widgets.

Maybe you could start with a good tutorial for a "quick win". Starting from there it is a little bit easier to design your own ideas....

You can find a pretty good step by step tutorial at Johans Site here

Cheers

Totally agree with Cathal, books from the Programmer to Programmer series are excellent. Plus, Professional DotNetNuke Module Programming is written by Mitch Sellers and Shaun Walker, so, no introductions needed there.
