This suggests a bug in DNN 5.5.1 in the GetTimeZone logic, since we haven't change the code in this area since v5.0.3. Can you try going into module settings and making sure the timezone dropdown gets selected properly for GMT+1, without any errors in the event viewer.

I'll try to debug further over the next few days, and see if I can identify a work around.

Could you check the timezones are populated correctly in the Timezone dialogue. Admin/Languages/TimeZoned Editor.

Roger, you are brilliant!
I found redundant entries in the timezone information for the Swedish language file, why that would impact when that language was disabled I dont really understand.
It was non-distinct values both for the US Pacific Time - -480 and a couple of other US timezones so to be sure I just copied the TimeZones.xml to TimeZones_sv-SE.xml file and everything works fine after that with enrolling etc. Now the site is back to normal so its possible to use also the Swedish language and it works.
I´m very thankful for your quick and good support!

No problem. Good news is, no bug in the Events module... especially since we are trying to get 5.1.5 RC2 released properly.
