HI All,

I discovered this when trying to upgrade DNN though, having restored to a backup, I am still at a loss.

Setup:

SQL Server 2008 on Windows Server 2008. DNN residing on another Server 2008 machine. SSL on URL. DNN version 5.2.2 (IE 8)

When accessing the server hosting the DNN installation I am unable to access localhost. The actual URL works fine on any machine.

when trying http://localhost - IIS is giving me a 403.4 - Forbidden message due to SSL.

When trying https://localhost I am simply getting "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

The site is up & running fine. "localhost" is defined as a portal alias too.

The portal is called "Onlinereporting" so i have also tried localhost/onllinereporting to no success.

i have tried localhost:85 and localhost:443 to no effect.

Any thoughts? Ta

Which DNN version?
If before 5.5.0 and you are using a non-standard port (EG: 85) you'll need to Enable "Use Port Number" variable in your web.config.
If your 5.5.0 or 5.5.1 do you have anything like firewalls or load balancers in the environment?

Hi, Its version 5.2.2. I have checked the web.config file and --> is already there. I believe it is on port 80 though. looking at the IIS settings the Bindings are: http:*:80:,https:xxx.x.xxx.xx:443: with the X's being the actual IP that ive removed here.

Hi, Ok, i already posted this but it didnt seem to work... I am running version 5.2.2 of DNN. The "Use Port Number" is already enabled in my web.config. IIS's binding say that it is on port 80 for http and port 443 for https. I am not aware of any other ports being used. Also, i dont suspect a firewall issue if i am accessing localhost from the server that DNN is installed on. Thanks

did you install DotNetNuke in the root of the default IIS web site - which is required if you want to use "localhost" alias.
