Hi there

I've successfully implemented search indexing for a module which has multiple items that are added, deleted, updated etc. Adding them to the search index is straighforward enough but when one of the items gets deleted I no longer wish it to appear in the search index. ideally I'd clear down all search items for the module when the indexing is called and reinsert them, but there is no controller class for search item. Other than a direct SQL call, is there another approach that can be used to remove items from the search item table?

Have the scheduler re-index the search index. It is located in Host/schedule

That will get rid of deleted content.

Other that that without going into SQL there is not a way I am aware of to delete an indivual search item wtihin DNN.

Thank you,

Done that. I would have expected the indexer to clear a modules entries before calling the module controller to reindex....but not happening.

I stumbled upon this topic whilst searching for a decent solution, having the same question as Colm has (had?).

Although this topic is pretty old by now, for people that might stumble upon this topic in the (near) future: Since 2004, DNN already hás a controller-class, that you can use to manipulate DNN's searchindex-store.

The SearchDataStoreController (not to be confused with the SearchDataStoreProvider). This controller is in the DotNetNuke.Services.Search namespace and in order to use it, you must reference [DNN-folder]\bin\Providers\DotNetNuke.Search.DataStore.dll in your project.

The rest will explain itself :-)
