But I can't figure out how to install the forum module to safe my life. All the instructions I've googled for installing the forums are for previous versions. Did the module get omitted from this version, or am I just dumb? Dumb would work for me. Last version of DNN I installed I had the forum up within minutes -- I'm 3 hours in with no joy at this point.

OK, for any equally stupid fellow travelers ... the module's no longer a part of the default download, apparently. But you can download it to your local hard drive and then upload it from there to install it.

You can download the (currently beta) forum 5.0 here:

http://dnnforum.codeplex.com/releases...

Then, under the Host tab on your default install, select "Module Definitions," scroll all the way to the bottom, and choose Install. Browse to wherever you downloaded the forums module, and follow the prompts thereafter.

This shouldn't have taken me 4 hours, but it did. Maybe it won't take you that long if you find this thread.

Forum 4.5.3 ships with dnn 5.1.1; goto “Host > Extensions” then select “Install Available Extensions” from the action menu.

BTW, dumb/stupid is subjective, I know a lot dumb people that are smarter than I am :)
