HI all,

I have just created my first site that uses the AD authentication provider in addition to the standard login. I have got it all working but for one point - it appears the Site Setting "Redirect after login " does not work for an active directory based user.

Details - AD provider 5.0.2 running on DNN 5.5.1. Server is Windows 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5. The site is intended to be a simple help desk site that will be accessed both as an intranet site and from external networks. I want the intranet users to be logged in automatically using their AD account and land on the Help Desk page. Anyone who is connecting from outside the internal subnets should go to the home page where they are given a link to WindowsSignin.aspx  and then after login redirect to the help desk page.  For admin access the standard provider is also available to allow login as a local user.

The issue is that the AD provider appears to ignore the 'redirect after login' instruction - when you connect off the local subnet it logs you in using your AD account very nicely, but you finish up on the Home Page, not the help desk page. Same result if you come in from the outside world and use the WindowsSignin.aspx.  Only if you use the standard login provider does the redirect to the help desk page work.

Am I missing a trick here, or is this just a plain old bug?

Thanks,
Graham

It's a bug that I haven't figured out a cure for.

Mike,

Thanks for the response - not exactly what I wanted to hear but at least it confirms it's not me losing my marbles....  I'll adjust my thinking about how I want the site to work for the moment.

If / when you do come up with a fix and want someone to trial it please let me know.

Thanks,
Graham

Hi Mike,

Have you found a solution to this?  I'm having a similar issue.  After clicking the login button, authentication is succeeding but the user is not being redirected anywhere.  Regardless of what's set in the User Settings, the user remains on the login page as if nothing had occurred.  Manually navigating to another page (or refreshing) shows that the user is in fact logged in.   This is only happening with DNN 6.  Prior to upgrading to 6, everything was working correctly.  Incidentally, the login button is also failing to submit on 'enter' press.

I'm using the 5.0.3 provider on IIS6 and Win 2003.

Any help is desperately appreciated as this is the last step in order to upgrade my client and implement a host of other improvements for them.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Mike,

I may have something on this.  Hope it helps you or anybody else who needs a "quick fix" with regards to not being redirected to the appropriate page after log in.  After lots of poking, reading, and trial and error, I finally decided to disable compression (Setting Cmpression to 'No Compression').  I recalled that this has caused a few challenges with the File Manager as well.  Anyway, that seemed to do the trick.  Now I'm able to login and be redirected to the appropriate page!

 Hope this helps someone else!

Jason
