I've been using DNN 5.02.03 with IE8 and have found that typing in a lot of text into an HTML module causes the text to expand beyong the right border of the MinimalExtropy skin. I was looking for support items and have found that there doesn't seem to be an HTML module any more in the list of project downloads, or a forum dedicated to that module. Nor does a Google search bring up any news about it.

Can someone tell me what's going on, please?

HTML module has been moved to the DNN core framework project and is now developed (and tested) by DNN Corp exclusively. Please report issues at support.dotnetnuke.com

The HTML module became part of the core DotNetNuke code in DNN 5.x and is not available as a separate project download. Although the HTML module package can be found in the Install/Module folder of each DotNetNuke framework package, it's version is tied very closely to the DotNetNuke framework version and in general it is not possible or recommended to upgrade the HTML module to a later version without also upgrading the site framework.

I suspect that the issue you are seeing is not in the HTML module but rather in the FCK Editor Provider which has not been the default editor provider since DotNetNuke 5.3.1 or so, having been replaced by the Telerik editor provider.

I would recommend either of two options:

1) Upgrade your DotNetNuke site to either 5.05.01 or 5.06.00 when it is released later in November. The editor module and provider will be upgraded at the same time giving you an option to use the included Telerik editor or a (possibly) updated FCK editor provider. As with any upgrade, be sure to create backups of both the file system and the database before upgrading. Also, make sure that your installation meets the minimum requirements for DotNetNuke 5.05.01: ASP.Net 3.5 SP 1 or 4.0 plus MS SQL Server 2005 or 2008 Express or Standard versions. Check the upgrade section in the DotNetNuke Wiki for more details regarding several core modules which will need to be upgraded before or after the framework upgrade.

2) Download and install the new RADEditor provider available in the DotNetNuke Forge/CodePlex at http://radeditor.codeplex.com/ . I was surprised to find when I looked at its project page just now that it lists as its minimum version DotNetNuke 5.02.03.

in addition to Bill's post: 1. AFAIK core packages do not include updated versions of the editor, but there is an advanced ckEditor provider project on codeplex including latest version of the editor, see http://dnnckeditor.codeplex.com/. 2. Bill pointed to dnnWerk radeditor provider, which comes with a bunch of additional features over the core provider, e.g. a configuration host module, which also allows switching between all editors currently being installed. 3. I am not aware of the text overflow issue in 5.2.3, most likely there is an issue with a modified skin or CSS.

Good Info, thanks. I was a little surprised I didn't come across that info - the various DNN sites are getting pretty labyrinthine.
