Our newly released white paper "Improving DotNetNuke 3.2.2 Load Time Performance" describes the technique to increase performance and load times for DNN. All necessary configuration, compilation and installation steps required to deploy DNN in the GAC are provided.

The final results showed an improvement on average of over 60%.

Visit http://www.flatburger.com/Default.aspx?tabid=5483 to download the white paper, the assembly source, and to learn more about FlatBurger.

Out of interest, can the same techniques be applied to DNN 4.x?

The process is similar, but there are some different things to condsider, particularly some Code Access Security ramifications due to the fact that DNN 4.0+ can run in Medium Trust.

We have been working on a similar whitepaper that covers specifically how to do this in DNN 4, so stay tuned.

Thanks, I should have worded that better.  I should have said that in the next whitepaper, in which we are focusing on DNN 4, we are exploring any possible issues related to adding DNN strongly named assemblies to the GAC while running DNN in medium trust.  Sorry for the confusion.
