Recently performed an entire upgrade (DNN, Modules, and Hardware) and everything went great but I have a small problem with the emails generated by the Events module.  My templates are HTML but when received via email the HTML is not rendered properly.  I can verify that this is just the events module because I have another scheduled email (HTML also), and Newsletters sent from DNN that work fine.

I have tested this on DNN 5.5.1 with Events 5.1.4  using both internal mail addresses (Lotus) and external mail (Gmail, Yahoo, Exchange)

Am I missing a new setting, or is this a bug?

Hi Mark,

The core DNN mechanism for identifying an HTML mail changed somewhere in the DNN 5.4.x series. I don't believe it is as reliable...

I think you have two options:-
  1. Add <html></html> round your template
  2. Upgrade to 5.1.5 RC2 which has an option to force the mails to HTML. Whilst RC2 has not been formally released it has gone through the DNN release process, and is just waiting for Ernst Peter to return from being away to formally release it.

Let us know if this solves your problem.

Cheers
Roger

Wrapping with <html> & <body> tags did not affect the outcome.  I will install the new version tonight during our maintenance period and report back.
Thanks.

I'm a bit late with my reply but I wanted to let you know tat 5.1.5 RC2 does fix the problems.

I am going to make a suggestion for your next version.   For the custom fields I would like to see an option to select the type of input required.  I am currently modifying each release to include both a multiple line text box, and radio button for these fields.
Thanks a bunch!

Hi Mark,

Glad your problem is solved. Can you raise your suggestions on CodePlex (link in my siganture), so we can track and see if we can include in an upcoming release.

With 5.1.5 RC2 just about to be finalised, we will soon be starting work on new features, so now is a good time to mget your ideas and votes in.

Cheers
Roger
