Hi, I've noticed that after logging in the home page does not always load.  The browser's progress bar, bottom right, shows 90+% and never comes back with a page display.  However, if open a new browser or even tab and enter the site URL the home page loads and show's I am logged in.   Can there be an IIS setting change I need to make?

IIS 7.5, Win 7, DNN 5.6,

did you check resources on the server, e.g. using taskmanager? ist the site running, is the database responding?

Yes, everything is working fine. All I have to do is open a new tab and the page will load while in the original tab its stuck on "loading".

I believe the problem is the browsers are timing out waiting for the site to be compiled.   After changing the IIS compilationMode setting to Auto the system is snappy and this problem has not shown up again.

Here's the info:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772381%28WS.10%29.aspx

To specify whether pages are compiled or interpreted, use the following syntax:

appcmd set config /commit:WEBROOT /section:pages /compilationMode:Auto|Never|Always

The variable compilationMode:Auto sets ASP.NET so that it does not compile the page, if it is possible. The variable compilationMode:Never sets ASP.NET to never dynamically compile the page. If a page contains a script block or code construct that requires compilation, ASP.NET will return an error and the page will not run. The variable compilationMode:Always sets ASP.NET to always compile the page. The default is True.

These settings also effect complication of pages and hence site performance. I have not touched the default settings in my DNN web.config for compilation as all is working well now. But on a production site it could be of consequence. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/s10awwz0.aspx Happy Thanks Giving …zap
